Our rule is simple: show where a figure came from, what period it describes, when it was updated and whether it may be revised.
Primary sources
We prioritise official statistical and fiscal bodies, publishing their definitions alongside the data.
Fair comparisons
Totals, per-person values, real terms and international comparisons answer different questions. We label them clearly.
Interpretation
Commentary is visibly separated from measurements, with credible competing explanations represented.
